Halloween Party!

Saturday night we had a chance to get many of our friends together for a Halloween Party... word was out that there was a prize for best costume and they came to win!
Our friend Gabe was Edward Scissorhands and won the prize for best costume. Gabe was tied with votes with Ben who came as "Richard" in a Box (a hilarious Saturday Night Live skit by Justine Timberlake).
Jenna did an amazing job decorating the house, and I'm so thankful she allowed me to make a huge mess in my office constructing my costume. Here's the Ghost Buster "Proton Pack" I made to match the actual movie props.

Thanks to all our friends and family that made it, what a great time!

That scary, dress up... carve up your pumpkin time is here. We've been so busy this year it was great to take some time off and have some fun!
Jenna and Mina started carving pumpkins and I learned making pumpkin seeds is allot more work than I thought (sorting the seeds out of all the guts).

I just LOVE the fall here in Seattle! It doesn't seem to matter that I've lived here my entire life, each season, especially Fall always seems to take my breath away. The cool and crisp weather, the changing colors of the leaves and I just love how the leaves create a blanket like layer upon the grass.
We were so excited to spend Saturday afternoon with Lucas and Amy (whom are to be married June of next year) at Seattle's, Gas Works Park. The day started off a bit hazy but you could just tell that the sun was going to burn all of that away. Sure enough it did, exposing us to the warm sun and strikingly blue skies. Amy and Lucas were just excited that it had decided not to rain. :)
We walked around the park for a couple of hours playing & posing with the rusty old machines. I just love this park, the rolling hills, great views and the amazing machines that were once used to manufacture gas from coal. Here are some pictures from their shoot. We can hardly wait to shoot their wedding next Summer!

There has been a growing trend of proposal photography lately and to be honest, I find it extremely romantic! There has been many stories recently on the different types of photographed proposals weather it's a stealthy photographer who follows the potential bride and groom around the park posing as a tourist or an elaborately planned out proposal with all the bells and whistles. One story that was captured by Atlanta photographer, Ross Oscar Knight, was one of a kind and about as planned as they come. You can see find the story and slideshow on his Blog. Trust me, it's worth reading the story and watching the slideshow it seriously gave me the chills (good ones).
Back here in our neck of the woods, Seattle Photographer, Jeff LaPlante actually met up with Komo News Radio reporter, Jon Repp last week to give his views on photojournalism as well as the growing trend of proposal photography. Jeff captured a proposal this past September. You can read and see more about his proposal session on Jeff's Blog.
John and I became involved in wedding photography because after shooting a friends wedding we just fell in love with the images and were amazed at the emotion and the story that an image could capture. What can I say? We are passionate for passion!!! :-) What an amazing feeling it must be to capture the couples story starting with the proposal and following them to their big day. Just Amazing...
To discuss more about a personalized proposal shoot just shoot us an email or give us a call! We would love to capture your entire story!

Our New Small Group :-)

John and I begun a new small group through our church (New Life in Renton). New Life created this new category for those who have been married two years or less. The design and purpose of this new style of small group is to help newly married couples adjust, grow and to have a sturdier, firmer start to their marriage.
It's so important to know just how much work, patience and understanding is needed to make a marriage last. Love, sometimes just isn't enough and I firmly believe that being able to admit to that and be willing to learn new tools to help you and your partner understand one another, will assist you in your marriage and will also bring growth to you and your spouse. I think that is what all married couples really want anyways, right?

What a blessing it's been to have met each of you! We are very excited to get to know each and every one of you.
Your friends,

Our new friends Misty and Shayne have been married since April of this year and our other new friends Manny and Nicole have been married since this past August. And of course John and I, being the "old married couple" that we are (haha) have been married now for just over a year. We are expecting one or two more couples to join our group, and I think we are all excited to meet our new friends.
We are so excited to have the opportunity to develop relationships with those in our group. Ralph and Kim, our group leaders have been married now for almost 34 years! Now how many of you know just how amazing that is! Congratulations Ralph and Kim!!!
It's amazing yet so sad that the divorce rate is now up to 45% (according to an article in USA today). I can personally say that I fully intend to stay out of those statistics! It's so great to know that there are groups out there, and people to facilitate them, that feel the same way and are willing to share their experience's with others to hopefully bring those numbers down.
John and I, both have growing personal relationships with God and are extremely excited to be a part of such an amazing church and small group. Stay tuned...because I can assure you that I will be keeping you up to date on our new friends and small group. I hope that all of our newlyweds read this and possibly even find a small group of their own. If you are interested in finding out more about New Life's small groups, please feel free to contact me personally or you may also contact Loran Lichty or Deanna Adler at New Life Chruch. In fact...they will be expecting to hear from you. :-)
Some of us are getting together this Saturday and will be attending the "Becoming Soulmates" marriage seminar with Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church . Tickets are $35 per person or $70 for the couple and includes lunch. The seminar is from 9:00am to 3:00pm. It's going to be a great seminar and there may be seats still available. Click on the MIPC link to find out more information.
Here is a picture of our new group. (taken with our Canon point and shoot camera...I can tell you right now that John won't like the quality of this picture. But it's all we have for now. :)

What a blessing it's been to have met each of you! We are very excited to get to know each and every one of you.
Your friends,
John & Jenna

Nick & Jessica's Wedding 10.5.2007

John and I spend some time with Nick and Jessica this past Summer during their engagement session. Thinking back I remember hearing Nick had a tendency to be a bit shy... camera shy that is. Not only did that not stand in our way, we ended up having a great shoot... and they ended up with some awesome pictures as a result! We couldn't wait to shoot these two again and were truly looking forward to witnessing these two amazing people enter into marriage.
From our first meeting, we could see the connection and electricity between the two. Nick and Jessica have a really sweet story on how they met actually (about 4 years ago they met while both attending Bellevue Community College). They've been engaged since April of this year and had their wedding this past Friday, at the Hollywood School House in Woodinville, Wa. It was without a doubt an outstanding day!
We're so happy for Nick and Jessica and hope that they are enjoying their honeymoon in Mexico (they are staying at El Dorado Royale, the same place John and I honeymooned). We're excited for them to see some of their pictures (just picking a couple was really tough) and I'm sure one of the first things Jessica does upon her return will be to check some of them out on our blog. :)
Congratulations Nick and Jessica! We wish you both all the best in the world! Thanks so much for working your day around our availability, letting us into your lives and letting us capture such a monumental day for you.
If you'd like to be notified once Nick and Jessica's pictures are available to view and order on Pictage, please sign their guest book here.
