Meet Ben | Class of 2009

Posted at 12:35 PM | 1 comments | please leave a comment
I can tell that the deadline to get senior pictures into the yearbook staff, is quickly approaching! Senior sessions are starting to fill up my calendar and I can't wait for the next.

Meet Ben. He's a pretty typical guy when it comes to his excitement (or lack their of) of having his pictures taken. :) While most girls can't wait to spend hours preparing and taking their senior pictures, I understand that it's not always a guy's favorite past time. So, we headed down to Downtown Renton and spent just about an hour (not too painful right) taking pictures. Spending just enough time on those that all parents want, schools need, and then of course some fun ones just for him.

Thanks Ben for hanging out with me and for being such a good sport!

Email me to book your senior session just in time for the yearbook deadline.

Baby Alana will be here soon!

Posted at 9:55 AM | 0 comments | please leave a comment
Devinne and I had her maternity session scheduled for next week which was appropriate since her due date is October 25th. I received a call from Devinne last Friday saying Alana may be here before our scheduled maternity session and could we do it sooner! :) So last Saturday morning Devinne had her maternity session and now she is scheduled for an induction this weekend. I have been honored with the opportunity to capture the labor and delivery of this little one and I couldn't be more excited. Stay tuned next week for some of Alana's very first pictures.

For now... please enjoy some of her belly pictures.

Get Hitched Give Hope

Posted at 9:25 AM | 1 comments | please leave a comment

Seattle’s first non-profit organization aimed at brides, grooms and the wedding industry that is dedicated to raise money for great causes!!

Now a way to get gorgeous for your wedding by giving back! A foundation set up by ladies who are all involved in the wedding industry somehow, have found a way to give back in a big way.

Good friend and fellow photographer, Laurel McConnell along with many other amazing women, have put together this awesome non-profit organization Get Hitched Give hope. As the fundraiser date approaches I wanted to help our pal Laurel get the word out about this selfless organization she's helped get going.

The Event: October 23rd at the newly renovated Arctic Club Hotel

Their Draw: Get Gorgeous Goods While Giving Back. Top notch vendors and businesses have donated some great items that are useful for your wedding (and most can be used by anyone, so drag your moms and co-workers over too!). There will be drinks, apps, auctions, raffles, and of course, the famed jellybeans, wink wink!

Featured Charity: The Making Memories Foundation. They are sort of like a “Make a Wish” for adults, granting wishes to stage 4 breast cancer patients. We want to be able to grant like 12 wishes… which means we’ve got to raise something like 50 grand. We’ve got a great community and wonderful friends and clients, so there’s no reason why we shouldn't be able to!!! We’ve been SO INCREDIBLY FORTUNATE with our wonderful sponsors, so we anticipate that every dollar donated (through auction, raffle, and money raised at the event!) will be going straight to MMF! Bid it up!

John and I wouldn't miss it and we've already got our tickets! Join us as we help to support this awesome cause. You're sure to have a great time in a swanky atmosphere all while supporting a great cause. General tickets are just $15!!!

Get your tickets HERE

Donations can be made HERE

Please visit Laurels Blog Post about the upcoming Get Hitched Give hope on October 23rd, 2009.

Congratulations Richard & Samantha | 9.7.08

Richard & Sam were married last weekend at Magnolia Hall in Arlington, WA. Just being in their presence, you could just tell how much they loved each other. So many emotional and sweet things brought tears to our eyes; Samantha singing to Richard at the alter, Sam's sisters funny stories as she married them, their first dance, and the great little notes everyone wrote for the couple during the reception.

Family was important to both the bride and the groom and on both sides they were great! Richard had family that flew in from Brazil just to witness the marriage of the two. John and I really enjoy being a part of days like this... it's awesome to see love and support, fun and laughter from everywhere.

Thanks Richard & Sam for letting us take part in your special day.

Happy 2nd Anniversary | September 2nd

I can't believe it's been 2 years already! Time really does go by fast when you're having fun. :)

To celebrate John had a surprise trip planned for us. He has always had a way of sweeping me off of my feet, and our anniversary was no exception. His secret plans included flying a seaplane from Lake Union up to Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands. Neither of us had ever been on a seaplane, nor had we been to the San Jaun Islands.

The flight was amazing, flying just a few hundred feet off of the water. We were so close in fact, that I was able to see the birds sitting on the water below. It was an awesome trip and with it taking us just over 30 minutes to reach our destination... it was the only way to go. :)

Once we landed, we checked into our Hotel, Friday Harbor House which was just amazing. Our room overlooked the entire harbor, it was beautiful. Once we were settled, we had to catch our boat... oh yea, he also had a whale watching tour planned for us. By the way, did you know that Orca whales are in fact not whales at all? They are in fact part of the dolphin family. Oh and the nickname "killer whales" is actually a mis-translation from earlier Spanish sailor's descriptions of the animals as 'whale killers'. Just a couple of the facts learned on our 4 hour tour. I was excited to get to see these amazing mammal's but didn't expect to see so many. They were quite active and gave us a great show. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the trip.

The rest of the trip we spent looking around town, dining out (one of our favorite parts of vacationing) and even riding around the island via moped. This was my first time on one of these things and thanks to Susie @ Susie's Moped Rentals, I was given all of the basics of riding and we were on our way. We drove over to Roche Harbor which was a cute little town. Walking around all of the million-dollar yachts John and I found ourselves in awe.

On our way back to Friday Harbor we stopped off at the San Juan Vineyards (the only vineyard on the island) and had a little tasting, bringing home a bottle of 2005 Merlot (yum!). It was at the winery we were informed about the camel who lived across the street. Yup, I said a camel! Mona the camel, has a great story as to how she came to be. It's a cute story and we (okay mostly me) were excited to meet the girl.

On our way back home Wednesday evening, I was able to reflect on our amazing 2nd anniversary trip that my darling husband planned for us. Thank you baby for making the past 2 years of marriage better than anything I could have ever dreamed of. I love you!

Senior portraits for the class of 2009 are in full swing! Meet Scott a senior at Kent Wood. Scott is looking forward to graduating high school so that he can move on to law enforcement. Awesome!

Here are a few of my favorite photo's from his senior session.

I just loved this sweet 68 Mustang! My husband was a bit jealous he didn't come... He used to own one of these babies and would love to have another one day.

Meet Arielle, just 8 weeks old!

I have been anxiously awaiting to meet this little princess since I found out her Mama was pregnant! I did Jessica's maternity pictures back in April while she was home for a visit. Her and hubby Merele, currently live in New Mexico and while he is away at training, Mommy decided to come home for a visit and of course I was thrilled because I got to meet and capture Arielle at the delicate age of just 8 weeks. I am officially in love with this little cutie pie! :)

Here are a few of my favorites.

Jeremy & Lisa's Wedding

Posted at 9:39 PM | 2 comments | please leave a comment
What can I say? We just keep getting blessed with these amazing couples! We met these two back in March during a group photo shoot. We must have done something right because it was only a couple of weeks later they booked us to shoot their wedding... and boy am I glad that we got to be a part of their day!

Jeremy & Lisa have had a relationship that's been tested through distance and there's no doubt in my mind that these two are the real deal. Both such outgoing and kind people who really seem to know the importance of family, friends and love. This was a day that would bring a tear (of joy) to any eye, a smile to any face and leave you with a warm feeling that just lingers. Here are (just) a few of our favorite pictures and some with a little description of what was taking place. :)

Jeremy's gift to Lisa. A beautiful strand of pearls... that came in the "blue" box. :)

This is Abby. Part of the family and just about the sweetest doggy you could meet.

Down at Pikes Place for some pictures, Lisa took us to the gum wall and they just couldn't resist adding to the ever growing collection.

This reception had all the goodies. We are talking sliders to a mashed potato
bar OH YUM!) to signature cocktails (lavender martini's and mmm-anhattan's), even chocolate fondue fountain.

The toasts were very touching... Jeremy had a little special toast for Lisa where he presented her with some gifts. A bottle of wine, only to be opened at each milestone anniversary. 1 year, 5 year and 10 year. Each bottle of wine Jeremy picked out so that it would be at it's peak, during the year of each anniversary.

John and I had such a fabulous time and are just amazed at the amazing people we meet. It's weddings like this that I leave asking myself, "how did we get so lucky to end up with a "job" like this?" I guess that's the whole point... we love what we do and it's because of the people we meet that we know we'll be doing this for a very very long time.

Thank you Jeremy & Lisa for letting us take part in your special day. Congratulations to you both!
