Easygoing, accommodating and sincere to the core is how I'd describe these two.

They've spent years together as a couple and finally, now are the happy married couple they've always been meant to be. Saturday May 9th is more than just the day these two were married. It was they day they celebrated their love and commitment to one another and a way to share it with their family and friends.

Some may call their ceremony simple. And some may call their reception low key. What we'd have to call there ceremony is heartfelt, funny & most of all, totally Josh & Nichole. Seriously, their vows consisted of a reading, Dr. Seuss style. :)

Their reception... well lets just say that it wasn't necessarily a typical reception. The most important thing for these two was for everyone to have a great time and to share with them this special milestone in their lives. BUT... don't think for just one second that they didn't put their fun, different and corky twist on things!

There were no traditional wedding cakes here. No-siree! Instead, days before, Nichole spent hours and hours baking multiple cakes. Each representing who they were as a couple. How did they taste? AMAZING comes to mind! :)

Who says you need champagne to toast? Not these two. How about Jello shots! A little tricky to get out of the glasses, they were still a big hint with guests.

Open bar anyone!?!? How about a bar full of almost any rum & all of the mixers you could need. To top it off... lets just go ahead and make these drinks in buckets!

Josh & Nichole, you were such a pleasure to work with. Reese Turned 2 this weekend and it was time for her 2 year pictures! I've had the privilege of capturing some of her most precious milestones, 6 months, 1 year and now, her at the 2 year mark. It's been so great watching her grow over the past year and a half and I am very much looking forward to continue to capture this little one through out her childhood. I love the age of 2. The great amount of growth that happens between 1 and 2 is just so fun to see. Last year she still needed mommy's assistance with the little things such as walking or climbing the stairs and this year, Reese was much more self efficient and it was so cute holding a conversation with her.

Back at her house, we headed out to the back yard and while mommy & I chatted and caught up a little, Reese just played around us entertaining herself, but mostly us. :) It was a beautiful day outside and they have this gorgeous wooded area out back so we took a little walk. Reese posed a little for me and then it was off to change outfits... and activities. You see, her attention span, like that of most 2 year olds, was about the size of my pinky. To keep her occupied, we had to change up activities every so often. :)

Refreshed and ready for some more action she pulled then posed in her little red wagon. I got a few more shots of her and Mommy before she called it quits. I have to say, Reese did an amazing job for me all afternoon. I knew my time was up because well, Reese told me so! :) If you know toddlers, they have a very specific way of letting you know they've given you all they are willing to give. For Reese, it was burying her head in mommy's shoulders when I tried to snap any more pictures. It was very cute.

I had more than enough time and opportunity to snap away to my hearts content and as you can see, I wasn't left with nothing. Here are just a few of the 70+ keepers. I don't know about you, but these eyes and this smile still, just melts my heart!

Sally & Chris | 4.25.09

I have to say that this wedding was one of the most intimate we've done, to date. Sally & Chris were married at the Canlis in Seattle. Joining them in their celebration, were about 20 of their closest family and friends, many who had flown in from out of town.

I met up with Sally and her cousin, at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Seattle where she was getting ready while John headed to the Canlis.

Chris & Sally, saw one another for the first time that day, at the alter. I know Chris had to have been blown away at the sight of his beautiful bride. The ceremony was performed by Greg Holman, who also married John and I almost 3 years ago. The ceremony was very meaningful, honest and endearing.

While their guests enjoyed cocktails & hors d'oeuvres, we took our fabulous couple to Kerry Park for some pictures of them enjoying one another, against the beautiful Seattle Skyline.

The rest of the evening was spent, much like a family reunion. I've said it before and I'll say it again, WE LOVE OUR REFERRALS!!! Of course the business is awesome but SO much more than that is the history that comes with each one. Last year we shot John & Suzanne's wedding at the Hotel Bellwether in Bellingham and from this awesome couple we were paired up with Eric & Jessica.

We started off at Willow's Lodge in Woodinville where the bridal party was getting ready. John arrived a tad bit earlier than I did (this pregnant lady doesn't move as fast as she used to, lol) and was already in the swing of things when I walked into Jessica's room. As I turned the corner, I caught a glimpse of Jessica and almost died. This woman, already stunning and beautiful, just lit up like a dream in her elegant soft pink gown.

Now it was time for her to go meet her groom. Under the beautiful willow tree we unveiled to the groom, his stunning bride. After a few private moments we took them down a short path for a few more pictures. It was only a matter of minutes that we were on the path before Jessica noticed she was being ATTACKED by gigantic killer ants! Okay... they weren't killer ants and they were gigantic. Really there were tiny little black ants but they did seem like they were attacking/biting her poor feet. It wasn't long before we abandoned this spot. Fine by us because here are some of the shots we took after leaving that location.

Once finished at Willows Lodge it was off to the Hollywood Schoolhouse just down the road. A few more bridal party pictures and portraits and it was time to surrender to the bridal suite to await the ceremony.

The ceremony, which was performed by one of our favorites, Kent Buttars of A Heavenly Ceremony (voted Best Seattle Officiant in 2008-Readers' Choice and 2005 Readers' & Editors' choice in Seattle Bride Magazine) was beautiful and sentimental. Monday... the ENTIRE day (at my house anyways) was dry and I had high hopes that it would stay dry through her my upcoming senior session. WHAT WAS I THINKING!?!?! :0) On our way up to her house (where we would be shooting her session) it started raining, the temperature steadily dropped, and yup, even some wet snowflakes grazed our windshield! Go figure, right?!? Well, that wasn't going to stop me from doing what I was going to do. In fact, it didn't stop Michelle either. Rain or not we went right ahead as planned.

Michelle, with her parents (oh did I mention that her parents are in fact John's Aunt Donna & Uncle Greg?) lives on Spring Lake in Renton. Basically an awesome picturesque sort of place. Since it was raining like crazy we really didn't get to spend any time out by the lake so we were left to shoot almost entirely indoors. Now I've done family sessions indoors and never had a problem, so why couldn't I shoot an entire senior session indoors? What was awesome is that we actually had 2 homes to shoot in. Aunt Donna & Uncle Greg own both the home on the lake and the one directly behind it (which is great for large family gatherings!). We started off in their house and then worked our way up to the other house (which we like to call the "party" house). I was actually looking forward to shooting in there because it has this awesome retro feeling to it.

On to our senior... Michelle, a student at Tahoma Senior High started off her senior session in her gown (she purchased in Florida) for prom just a couple of months away! Now, I've known Michelle for just about 4 years and when she walked out into the living room in her gown, I couldn't stop thinking how this adorable young girl I first met, had turned into this elegant and stunning young woman before me now!

Usually I shoot my portrait sessions alone. However, being 8 months pregnant, I decided to call on my husband to come and assist me. Even with his help, I think I still did a pretty good job getting the job done. :) WARNING: the next couple of photo's, not the most attractive (of me)! :)

Even though the majority of her pictures took place inside, we did get her outside for a few in between the downpours.

Josh & Nichole's Engagement Session

We met Josh & Nichole just a few short weeks ago and will be shooting their wedding coming up in May! Getting down to business we scheduled and shot their engagement session this past weekend. Josh works at Korum Ford in Puyallup (where cars cost less! lol) and so we had the privilege to use the shop since it is closed on Sunday's. Cool cars, power tools, cars up on lifts... you name it, we had it, and shooting there was awesome!

Josh and Nichole are such a down to earth, not to mention hilarious couple! This was the first time either of had had professional pictures and were a little nervous at the beginning of their session. It didn't take them but a split second before the seemed right at home in front of the camera. If they were nervous, I couldn't tell! They were laughing and flirting with one another all while John snapped away! The energy these two have between one another sure makes them a blast to be around! John & I had a great time and I even stepped in for a quick photo with Nichole. :)

We can't wait for their wedding, just a month a way! Thanks guys for an awesome afternoon! John and I have been working so hard since Friday night. The prep work took many hours... the painting was a whole days adventure and the chair railing and wood stripes between the colors was one back breaking adventure!

I always dreamed of creating a beautiful nursery for my baby, but this... this is more than I ever expected. John and I worked so hard and to have it finally finished is such a relief! Now... we wait for the baby shower and once we have all of her bedding and decorations, we can complete our little princess' room. Oh yes, there will be more pictures to come but for now... here is the completed nursery!

I just have to thank my wonderful husband for putting so much into project nursery! I couldn't have done it with out him. I love you and can't wait to start this new chapter of our life. I think we have the colors and the design picked out. We're thinking of using 3 different shades of pink and breaking it up with a fun lime green!

So far what we've come up with is to put white chair railing up about 3 feet up the wall. Painting wide stripes on the lower half using 2 of the darker shades of pink and the lime green. Then painting the top half of the wall solid with the light pink. The furniture in Baby Girl Karwoski's room is going to be white so I think those colors on the wall will really pop! :)

While coming up with all of these ideas on how we are going to decorate our daughters room, it got me thinking "I wonder what creative things other people are doing to decorate their babies nurseries?". What better way to find out then to ask YOU to show me what you've done in your little girls or little boys nursery!

Show me what you've done in your little ones nursery by emailing me a photo to me at jenna@jfkweddings.com. I will go through all of the pictures and the winner of my favorite nursery will get a complimentary portrait session of their little one in their new room! I will pick a winner by March 31st so get in your pictures for a chance to have your little one and his or her personalized nursery captured for memories that will last forever!

**Please include in your email, your name, city in which you reside and your childs age or your due date. To John and I, he's a part of our history as a couple. It will be 4 years, this March, that marks not only the anniversary of our 2nd date together, but it marks the first time we saw Steve perform. The first of many to come. This performance took place at the Bristol's wine and coffee bar, Oppa Beppo's where Steve still performs on a regular basis. In fact, he's performing there tonight and we are very excited to attend!

Steve has quite the remarkable story. Blind at birth, Steve began playing the guitar at age four. Around the ripe ol age of 12, Steve became seriously interested in mastering the guitar and thus began his journey. Steve is greatly known for his "cover tunes" but also has some amazing originals. Mine and John's favorite original is "Time". Click here and scroll down to listen to a sample. You will LOVE this song! Steve is also known as "The Human Jukebox". He claims to know over a thousand "cover" songs. My personal favorite trait of Steve, is his sharp wit. This guy is not only musically talented, but so funny. He likes to interact with the audience and concluding each show we've attended, we're always excited for the next one.

Steve performs all over the place from Seattle to Tacoma. If you'd like to check out where his next show will be held, check out his calendar and trust me when I say, this is a great date night. Oh, and best of all (especially in this economy) all of his shows are free. Just bring enough cash to enjoy a cup of coffee or wine, but do feel free to bring a few extra bucks to toss Steve's way after his performance as he's not always being paid by the venue to bless your ears off with his music!

2008 was like... Wow!

We've been going through all of our wedding images from this past year to update our website and in doing so, it's brought forth so many fantastic memories. Whether it was shooting some amazing weddings for our even more amazing clients or the building of new and unique friendships.

Each year we feel as though we grow as photographers and as individuals. Most of this has to do with the amazing people we meet throughout the year. John and I regularly comment to each other "Man! We are so blessed to do what we do!", but never has that been more apparent as we're sitting down and focusing on updating our portfolio. I almost think we wear out the word "amazing" as we think of the great relationships we've made with clients, photographers and other individuals in the wedding industry. Not to mention the knowledge we've gained and the ever growing prospective of the world of wedding and portrait photography we now have.

Some of our favorite times in 2008 were our trip to WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) in Las Vegas where we not only visited the booths at the trade show, but took part in a few photo shoots. One which put one of our images in the Fall 2008 issue of InStyleWeddings Magazine. :)

Another amazing trip we took was down in Napa California for the Open Source Photo West. That too was an amazing time of learning, meeting new friends and having a TON of fun! Some of the friendships that were created there have become some of my most cherished of friends. You know who you are! ;)

As for weddings, we had the privilege of shooting in some locations that were first timers for us, like The Hotel Bellwether for John & Suzanne's wedding. This not-so-small destination wedding of about 300+ turned out to be one of our top weddings in 2008!

Then, like we could forget to mention how we ended our wedding season... in MEXICO baby! We're talking about the 7 days and 6 nights we spent in Cabo San Lucas for our dear friends, Chris & Tara's wedding. While we spent the week at the resort Melia Cabo Real, Chris & Tara stayed at Casa Del Mar, which is where they were married on November 10th. This was our first time to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and it was amazing!

You know, getting to travel to new places, near or far is only a small portion of why we love so much what we do. John and I are both extravert's who of course treasure meeting new people. The friendships we've created over the years are priceless to us and we just feel so darn fortunate to be where we are in life.

Thank you to all of our clients and friends who have given what John and I do, true meaning. We are forever grateful! Only 20 more weeks to go. :) Not only does this week mark the 1/2 way milestone, but it's also very special for another reason. This past Tuesday John and I had an ultrasound and found out that we are expecting a baby... GIRL! :) Mommy's little princess, Daddy's girl you name it this little one already holds the title! Here is her 20 week ultrasound.

We've begun going over the decor for her nursery (thinking lime green & pink) and can't wait to get started! So far we've purchase her crib, stroller and my favorite item so far... her designer diaper bag! YUP, I said designer. :) My Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag in the CAKE design should be arriving very soon. I am sooo excited!

To mark the 1/2 way point of my pregnancy, I decided that I wanted to have some portraits done. Of course my first choice photog was my hubby, so here are a few of the shots we took today. We'll be doing another maternity session during my last trimester, but I just wanted to capture my baby belly while I still felt good. And let me tell ya, the 2nd trimester really does something to a woman. I feel great!

Family portraits of family friends!

Meet Andrew, Shara & Makaila! Shara and I have been friends since high school and I've been blessed with the opportunity to watch Makaila grow up. With in just the first few pages, I was hooked! This book is a New York Times best seller. Film producers have already expressed interest in making this story into a movie for general theatrical release and will pursue that after a sufficient number of these books are in circulation. They say that word of mouth is the most effective tool for a book like this to gain traction in the wider culture and there you go, the reason for this blog post :).

I love to read and I love to be inspired. I love that this book inspires while helping to answer some of my very own questions about why horrible things happen to good people. I'd recommend this book 110%!

If you'd like to read more about this book click here. Or to purchase a copy of your very own you can check out your local book store or anywhere books are sold. After 2 years of trying & praying we are finally expecting a little one of our very own! Baby "K" (as we are calling him/her until we find out) is due early June. We are just about to hit the 1/2 way mark and it's very exciting.

I spent most of my first trimester in bed. I had a severe case of morning sickness (the kind you can hardly get out of bed with) and thanks to my wonderful husband who took care of me day and night, I made it through. Now that I am fully into my 2nd trimester, I am feeling great and enjoying life again. Most of my energy has returned and I am really enjoying being pregnant. The belly is growing and we've begun to take some pictures to document this amazing time. Here are a few.

We expect to find out the sex of the baby next week. John and I have both always wanted a little boy but after 2 years of trying we are both just thrilled to be expecting a baby (although I know John would LOVE a little boy). :)

We are planning on doing some "1/2 way there" pictures next week as it will mark our 1/2 way point. Stay tuned for those. By the way, these will be the first maternity pictures John's ever taken and the first time I've been in front of the camera for a professional maternity session. Wish us luck. :)

Chase & Candice | Snowy Engagement

All the way from San Antonio Texas, Chase & Candice were visiting his Grandparents, Alan & Martha on their beautiful property in Brinnon, Wa. Making the drive to Brinnon on Saturday morning, John and I were excited to see where we'd be shooting their engagement session. As we arrived we noticed a beautiful home with a classic wrap around porch and the property... AMAZING! Cute little cottages set back in some woods for when guests visited. Tire swings hanging from the branches of old trees, old tractors & boats just lying around. Basically it was a photographers candy store. Everywhere we looked we were like "ooh, look over there, and OH, what about that and I love THAT!". You get the idea... we were very excited! To make matters even better the couple we were photographing, Candice & Chase, were amazing.

Because they live out of state, they booked us to shoot their July wedding before we had a chance to meet. So first things first, we sat down in the dining room and while we showed them all of our goodies (albums/samples etc.) Chase's Grandmother, Martha brought us cookies & sandwiches. Now that's what I'm talking about. :) The hospitality was great! After getting to know each other a bit it was time to get out there and take some pictures. Oh, did I mention that it was snowing & raining on and off? Not that that mattered to these guys (or us). They were up for anything. How awesome!

We were told about different parts of the property and started off at down at the beach. You see, the property also includes beach front on the Hood Canal. While cold, wet & windy, Candice & Chase didn't seem to notice much. I kept thinking... look at their passion. They were totally engulfed in one another. I really do think that the wind could have knocked them over and they would've still been smiling. We continued around the property for a while then decided to drive to one more location. Across the street was Dosewallips falls. Beautiful & breathtaking with all of the snow.

We are very much looking forward to being a part of their intimate wedding this July on this very property. Not always do we get to meet with out of state clients before the wedding and this was a nice treat.

Candice & Chase, Alan & Martha, thanks so much for the hospitality and for a wonderful afternoon. We are looking forward to July!

If you would like to view more pictures of Candice & Chase as they become available, please click here to sign their guest book.

Rob & Esther | Destination Seattle

Rob & Esther flew in from Virginia to spend a little time with family and friends! We were thrilled to finally meet & spend time with these two during their short visit. Rob & Esther are getting married here in Seattle next July, but planning this special event all the way from Virginia, they sought out the help of the wonderfully talented and uber awesome, Wendi Hroncich of Ethereal Events.

Yet again, we escaped what was supposed to be a normal drizzly day in Seattle. The sun was out and the temperatures were mild. I know we can't exactly bank on good weather all the time but we seem so often to be blessed with awesome weather for our planned outdoor engagement sessions & weddings. I think we've only had to reschedule one Esession due to rain... EVER!

One of the things I loved right away, before even meeting these guys, was that rain or shine they were going to do their shoot as planned. Laid back and fun are just two of the golden qualities of this pair. We had a great time at the Seattle Center with these two and can't wait for their wedding!

If you would like to view more of their engagement pictures as they become available, please click here to sign their guest book. Taylor was born in late October and I just couldn't wait to meet this little one. Mommy Gretchen and Daddy Ben have been good friends of ours for a few years now. We photographed their wedding back in July of 2007. It is such a joy to watch them as new parents. Taylor is just adorable and holding her is such a treat! See for yourself just how cute this little princess is...
