Shari & Kyle | Wedding

Posted at 4:48 PM | 3 comments |
You may remember Shari and Kyle from their engagement session that we covered back in January in Seattle. John and I had the pleasure of capturing their wedding last week at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Renton. The reception was held at the Meridian Valley Country Club and was just beautiful. Here are some of our favorite images from their special day.

Shari, the modest sweetie she is, I don’t think had a clue of just how beautiful she looked. But as you can see... these pictures speak for themselves!

Congratulations Shari and Kyle! John and I are honored to have shared in your day.

Jenna Trashes her own Dress @ the Boneyard

Posted at 12:31 PM | 6 comments |
Our latest trip to Vegas was an amazing whirlwind of learning, activities and fun. I'm sure Jenna plans to post much more on the trip, but I wanted to tell this little story.

For the short version, watch the slideshow

We arrived in Vegas on the 15th and previous reserved time to shoot at the Boneyard (The Neon Museum), an amazing place filled with retired signs from the Vegas strip. Our friends Steve and Larry and several models made up our crew ;-)

We had been planning the trip for a while, finding models and working out details... some time during that process Jenna got the idea she'd like to put on her own dress and be one of the models. Honestly I didn't really didn't get it or share her excitement thinking what could I do with pictures of my wife in her dress! Still she was so excited about the idea, so much so that it was contagious and eventually she had me excited as well.

The day of we had some models cancel and I decided to shoot just Jenna. Heck she was my wife, in her wedding dress and she was beautiful... add the amazing signs and backdrops and WOW I was inspired. 2 1/2 hours and 1000 pictures later, I had taken some of my favorite pictures ever. See for yourself!!!

Jenna and I actually learned a ton from this shoot, she now has more of the experience from in-front of the camera... this just makes working with our couples better by understanding the experience. And just in case you're interested is a TTD (trash the dress session) Jenna can tell you all about it and how much fun it can be!

Oh yeah, I loved these photos so much... they are up on my wall in my studio!

Let It Snow! Silvy & Ronalds Wedding | NewCastle Golf Course

Posted at 10:18 PM | 0 comments |
Waking up Sunday morning, John and I were just excited that it wasn't raining! Although Silvy and Ronald's plan included an indoor tent ceremony and reception, it would have been a sin not to have pictures outside due to rain, at such an amazing venue!

Silvy and Ronald have been planing their December wedding from Southern California. The location they chose for their wedding and reception was the Newcastle Golf Course in Newcastle Washington. This venue is known for it's beautiful location and amazing views. Did I almost forget to mention the stunning sunsets? Well, although we did not reap the benefits of an unforgettable sunset (the sun was stuck behind clouds all day) we did get something else... SNOW!

That's right, while Silvy and her 8 bridesmaids were getting ready, it began to snow! It kept up for about an hour or two and it snowed just enough to cover the entire golf course with a blanket of white! I believe it continued to snow during Silvy and Ronald's unveiling however it stopped soon after. In fact... not only did it stop, but the sky cleared up just enough to give us back our view of Lake Washington and even Downtown Seattle! God sure gave this Southern California couple a taste of the Great Pacific Northwest.

Like Silvy and Ronald, many guests, close family and friends, traveled from all over to witness and share this beautiful occasion. Definitely one of our favorite couples and weddings. We've had such a great time working with them both during their engagement session this past week in Seattle, as well as on their wedding day! They're now off in Hawaii enjoying weather more like what they are used to... warm!

John and I wish you, Silvy and Ronald all of the best in the world! May God continue to bless you both this holiday season and always!

Ben & Jen's wedding November 3, 2007

John and I first met up with Benjamin and Jen a year ago at one of Seattle's funkiest coffee & wine bars Motore Coffee. We must have sat for hours chatting about their upcoming wedding.

This past Saturday...the day they had been waiting for, was finally upon them! Jen and Benjamin were married in Seattle at the Mt. Baker Park Presbyterian Church. A traditional Lutheran ceremony (yes, in a Presbyterian church lol) was performed by a close friend of the couples, whom delivered an amazing ceremony!

After the ceremony and a few pictures in the park, the bridal party was off (on foot, since the reception was being held just a few blocs away) to their reception at the Mount Baker Community Club. Cute cupcake towers took their place as the centerpiece of each table (which were to die for!) and the room twinkled with candle light.

Everyone had such a wonderful time... including John and I. Congratulations to you Benjamin and Jen on your wedding! We wish you both all the best in the world! Thanks for sharing your very special day with us.

Nick & Jessica's Wedding 10.5.2007

Posted at 10:42 PM | 2 comments |
John and I spend some time with Nick and Jessica this past Summer during their engagement session. Thinking back I remember hearing Nick had a tendency to be a bit shy... camera shy that is. Not only did that not stand in our way, we ended up having a great shoot... and they ended up with some awesome pictures as a result! We couldn't wait to shoot these two again and were truly looking forward to witnessing these two amazing people enter into marriage.

From our first meeting, we could see the connection and electricity between the two. Nick and Jessica have a really sweet story on how they met actually (about 4 years ago they met while both attending Bellevue Community College). They've been engaged since April of this year and had their wedding this past Friday, at the Hollywood School House in Woodinville, Wa. It was without a doubt an outstanding day!

We're so happy for Nick and Jessica and hope that they are enjoying their honeymoon in Mexico (they are staying at El Dorado Royale, the same place John and I honeymooned). We're excited for them to see some of their pictures (just picking a couple was really tough) and I'm sure one of the first things Jessica does upon her return will be to check some of them out on our blog. :)

Congratulations Nick and Jessica! We wish you both all the best in the world! Thanks so much for working your day around our availability, letting us into your lives and letting us capture such a monumental day for you.

If you'd like to be notified once Nick and Jessica's pictures are available to view and order on Pictage, please sign their guest book here.

The forecast for Saturday called for rain and wind. However to everyones surprise the weather made a turn for the better offering sunny skies and warm temperatures! It was perfect for their first day of Fall wedding. Especially since it was outdoors. :)

Michelle and Andy shared their vows with their friends and family in the beautiful back yard of her twin brothers home in Snoqualmie. The vows and the views were breathtaking and emotional for all involved.

John and I had a great time and wish them both all the happiness and love in the world!!

Tamisa and Albert were married this past Saturday at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, Wa. John and I had a great time with this East Coast couple and are so glad that they decided to have their wedding back here at home. Tamisa and Albert exchanged/renewed their vows almost 5 years after being married. This time it was witnessed by nearly 100 of their closest friends and family. We are so grateful to have been part of this special day!

Congratulations Albert and Tamisa! May God keep you both strong with each other and bless your family always.

Jeff & Mandy were married this past Saturday at McChord AFB. The ceremony was held outside and they were blessed with a beautiful Summer day.

John and I have had the pleasure of getting to know Jeff and Mandy, and their little one, Mikaela over the past few months. We attended Mikaela's first birthday party back in May, then it was time for their engagement session which we did at Alki Beach in Seattle. John and I had definitely been looking forward to their wedding and we really had such a blast shooting and documenting their day! Everything went smoothly and by the end of the night, the look of love, happiness and even exhaustion were apparent on many faces.

Mandy, Jeff and Mikaela, It was such a pleasure getting to know you all. We are looking forward to getting together with you in a couple of months to give you the rest of your pictures. Until then...here are a few to tide you guys over! Hope you enjoy!
Congratulations to you both. May God continue to bless your adorable family!

Gabe & Aimee Litras Wedding

Gabe and Aimee were married this last Friday at the Pioneer Park Pavillion in Puyallup, Wa.

It was an amazing day, the weather outside was sunny but hot enough to melt a bride in her dress and everyone was excited to be part of their day!

We had a lot of fun with this couple and their party. Aimee and Gabe, whom have been together for 4 years, share some great friends. I think that most of the entire bridal party had known and been friends with each other for years, which made for an even better group!

The ceremony may have set a record for being short and sweet... just about 5 minutes, this left lots of time for the party which continued for hours. :)

Congratulations to you both, Mr. and Mrs. Litras!!! We wish you all the best in the world!

Katie and Shane were married this past Saturday at the Embassy Suites in Tukwila. John and I sought out Katie once we arrived on location and had the pleasure of spending some time with her and her bridal party.

The ceremony was great...K atie came down in the glass elevator to meet her groom in the atrium of the hotel. What a grand entrance! ;-)

Katie and her family, whom came from far and wide had a great time cutting loose on the dance floor.

Congratulations Katie and Shane. Our best wishes and prayers are with you.

John and I had the pleasure of shooting the Brandon and Jennifer's wedding this past Friday.

I met up with Jennifer and one of her bridesmaids, Gina at Bare Essentials in Nordstroms at the South Center Mall in Tukwilla. Here Jennifer was transformed into the princess bride she's always dreamed of becoming. :) She and her Maids had spent all morning in preparation for her big day starting from the feet up! I'm getting exhausted just thinking about it!

Once the prepping was complete, Jennifer was off to meet her groom to be married. The ceremony and reception went off with out a hitch and now Jennifer and Brandon are off in Jamaica having the time off their lives. Congratulations to you both!

Randy and Sadie Hegland Wedding

Posted at 9:44 PM | 1 comments |
John and I spent a bunch of time in Snohomish, Wa this weekend :) Saturday we had the pleasure of shooting Randy and Sadie's wedding at the historic Belle Chapel. This chapel has been around since 1885 and has seen thousands of weddings.

We first met Randy and Sadie back in June and just loved their personalities from the get go! We were very excited to shoot their wedding and now that it's all said and done, we're so glad that we had the opportunity to get to know this amazing couple a little better. Once the happy couple returns from the honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas they'll have one day to pack up and then are gone for 5 years. They are moving to Indiana for Sadie to attend grad school. So you see, this wedding was more than just a celebration of the love and passion that these two have, but also a special time to be spent with family and friends that will be staying behind.

After the ceremony, we were taking pictures and kept noticing the undeniable glow of the bride. Sadie just looked like she was on cloud 9 the entire day, for good reason.

Thank you Randy and Sadie for letting us be a part of your special day. We really were a great fit! :-) We wish you all the best. Wherever your adventures of husband and wife may lead!

Eric & Katie Focht Wedding

John and I had the pleasure of shooting Eric and Katie's wedding this past Friday at Lord Hill Farms in Snohomish, Wa. The venue was amazing! Katie and her bridesmaids got ready at the beautiful Victorian house just down the street. When it was time, Katie was escorted to the ceremony in style... sitting on top of a Mustang convertible driven by her mother Kathi.

The ceremony was very sweet. Brody, Katie's three year old son, proudly held the title of ring bearer. The butterfly release captivated the attention of everyone, young and old alike.

During the reception John and I were able to capture some shots outside just as the sun was going down and the moon on it's way up. We caught some great pictures of the bride and groom against the gorgeous sky... otherwise known (by photographers) as sweet light.

John and I had a great time getting to know everyone. Thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of your day!!

Ryan & Jamie's Wedding

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!!! If there was just one word I could use to describe Ryan and Jamie's wedding that would be it. :-)

This lovely couple was married this past Saturday in Issaquah, WA. Nick's parents, Todd and Nancy gladly and graciously offered to host the wedding of their oldest son and new daughter in law Jamie at their home and garden. Rumor had it that Ryan's mother had spent months preparing and making perfect their yard and beautiful garden. What an amazing privilege it was to shoot at this awesome location.

Right Image

Ryan's family were not the only ones who got in on the wedding day action... Jamie's brother David, wrote and performed a song for the happy bride and groom during their reception. It was a touching moment for many.

Left Image

Jamie and Ryan, both WSU Alumni had a bridal party that consisted of blood siblings as well as fraternity brothers and sorority sisters! This crazy bunch was full of love and support not to mention energy and laughter when it came to this well matched couple.

This was the type of wedding/reception where John and I had a tough time leaving. :) Great people having a great time...all the ingredients to a perfect day!

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Warner and to all of your family and friends, for allowing John and I to be part of your special day... and thanks to you guys, we met Suzanne and John (couple below on the left) and we can't wait to shoot their wedding next Summer! ;-)

Ben & Gretchen get MARRIED (finally)!!!!

Posted at 10:54 AM | 1 comments |
Our dear friends Ben and Gretchen (now) Levy tied the knot this past Saturday at Echo Falls Country Club in Snohomish, Wa.

John and I have really enjoyed getting to know these two as a couple over the past year or so. In fact I first met Gretchen Back in December 2005 when we both started orientation at the same company. It wasn't until a few months later that we ran into each other in the cafeteria and noticed each others engagement rings which got us talking about weddings... you know from there it was pretty much history! :-)

Ben and Gretchen have been together since high school and have shared so many great memories and good times together. Unfortunately they have also had their share of hard times... of course holding one another's hand and lifting each other up during them, creating an even tighter bond.

It was such a pleasure being part of their day, and it's a continued joy knowing that we'll share a friendship with these two in the years to come!

I attended Gretchen's bachelorette party last Thursday and took lots of pictures... I will only show you a few ;-0 wink wink. John also attended the Bachelor party with Ben, however he did not bring his camera... shocking I know!

This couple not only have an amazing relationship with one another, they also share a great family and awesome set of friends! Thank you both for allowing us to be a part of your special day! Congratulations to you both. We LOVE you!

Chris & Tricia are married!

Chris and Tricia were married on June 23rd at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn Wa.

However it was not without obstacle that they made it to the alter. Just a few months ago their home caught on fire, leaving them without a place to call there own... adding to the already busy and stressful time of planning their wedding. Thankfully Tricia's mother, Vicki, unselfishly opened up her home to them both.

After all was said and done, their wedding was a hit and now Mr. and Mrs. Wood are living happily as husband and wife... still (I believe) waiting for there home to be repaired.

They have one another as well as a loving son, Ta'a. No doubt they'll get through this rough patch together and live wonderfully happy lives!

Congratulations to you both! You'll be in our prayers

Lari & Robert Johnson-May 3rd, 2007

Another fantastic wedding, Lari & Robert Johnson were married at the Women's University Club of Seattle. Accompanying them was their family and friends.

John and I had the pleasure of spending the entire day with Robert, Lari and Lari's daughter, Courtney (Lari's maid of honor).
The entire day was filled with so much fun, laughter and love. I can't express enough how much of a pleasure it was to be in the presence of such love & passion.

After the unveiling we were off to Freeway Park for pictures. Although at the rehearsal dinner the night before looked as though they were surely in for monsoon type of weather for their wedding, to everyone's surprise the weather ended up being perfect the entire day! No doubt a blessing/wedding gift from God! :)

It is true what they say "your friends are a reflection of who you are" because Lari and Roberts friends and family, were just as amazing as the two of them. Some friends and family took on different tasks for the day such as the favors, a signature cocktail created just for Robert and Lari, by Seattle's celebrity chef, Kathy Casey (an amazing drink! See recipe & pictures below!).

After a touching ceremony, it was time for cocktails! The remainder of the evening was enjoyed by all, with an amazing dinner and dancing!
The Womens University Club of Seattle is absolutely amazing. Certified bridal consultant, Jeanne Beck who works for the club, was extremely accommodating not only to the Bride, Groom and guests but to John and I as well! Thanks Jeanne for making our job that much more enjoyable! Overall their staff, the food, the venue it self... absolutely STUNNING! I can't wait to do another wedding there!

Thanks Robert, Lari and Courtney for allowing us into your lives! It was truly our pleasure!

Mango Rosa Bliss recipe
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 T Mango Puree
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
3/4 oz simple syrup
2-3 drips rose water
splash of champagne

Maria and Rafik's Engagement Ceremony

Yesterday John and I attended a traditional Orthodox Coptic Engagement Ceremony (a first for us both). We were just thrilled to take part in their engagement.
A full on ceremony at St. Georges in Kirkland and reception to follow at Salty's on Alki for bride and groom to be, Maria and Rafik is just the beginning of what is to come for this great couple! They will be married this October in Washington D.C. and will have well over 300 guests. No doubt this will be an event of a lifetime!

Prior to yesterday, John and I hadn't had the pleasure of meeting Maria or Rafik. Not only were the two of them amazing, they also had friends and family to match. Congratulations again to you Rafik and Maria! We had a great time and are grateful to have been part of your day.

Today Jenna and I had the privilege of shooting Shayne and Misty's wedding! We are continually amazed and blessed how at the end of the day we feel like we've made new friends.

Two words... Great Weather! Everyone packed umbrellas but the day was amazing, the wedding party headed to Gene Coulon Park to take pictures, then St. Mathews Church in Renton for the ceremony.

The reception followed at Renton Technical College. Misty and Shayne are now off to Jamaica for a relaxing and well deserved honeymoon. Congratulations to you Shayne and Misty! Thanks you for allowing us into your lives.

Let me just say that this venue was an amazing place for a wedding. The colors and decor, rich and tasteful! The hotels staff was absolutely amazing.

It truly was an amazing day for Jen and Barry as well as for friends and family. John and I feel privileged to have worked with them both. Here are a few pictures from their day.

What an awesome experience it was to photograph Cory and Missy's wedding. They took their vows in the chapel at Crystal Mountain...and get this, prior to taking their vows Cory and Missy ran a few runs first...OH YES! Tux, Dress and all! John couldn't miss this opportunity so he hopped up on the lift (no ski's...just boots) to get the happy couple in action!
Here are a few shots from their day!
